City lights glitter
And reflect neon
From winter’s covering
Snow and ice are evidence
Summer’s grown cold.
The thought of yesterday
Finds me missing you
And nudges me to look up.
I see you curled up
Feline under warm blanket’s paradise
Frosty haze lets me see
Your sleep-driven smile
And the memory of your womanly scent
Fills my soul with a breath of hope
Tender nudges into dream
I look closely at your sleep
Watch your bosom gently heave
With the breath of nocturnal scenes.
I carefully climb in with you
Disturbing no dream
Nor breath
Nor warmth
From slumber’s depth
I hold you in your sleep life
Safe in my arms.
Outside the window
Winter blows and swirls
A howl with snow
Behind drawn curtains.
The winter wind cuts a song
Through the trees and eaves
Of the woods and house.
Snow dust pits the glass
And I feel you press
Yourself against me.
Turn my thoughts from the winter storm
To loving warmth by my side
I lay my head
Just behind your ear
To whisper, I love you
Into your dreams.
We walk through the summer
Pass by the river
Stroll through autumn fire
Hand in hand
And warmly caress your shoulder
In the present.
The affection radiates
To all of heaven
The Universe
Turning the days into night.
The salty-sweet froth
Of time’s passing
And the bitter waters of your love
Rains upon my joy.
I wake alone thinking of you
Wanting, needing you
With wind-driven rain
Beating against my soul
I close my eyes and drift once more
To be near you.
The vision of your youthful glow
And beauty my heart
Years such an ache;
My days standstill.
It is in these moments
That my being reaches
Beyond the boundaries
Of every day and soars
Through the quiet towards you.
