ROOTS OF SELF PART ONE

When Mountains Crumble

16/07/09

Mourning the passing of yesterday

Weep not for the seed has sprout

Today celebrate with joy the first leaf

Reaching higher brushing the hurt inside

Let not the undercurrent of yesteryears

Tow you under but reach even further

Towards tomorrow witness the bloom

Wild flower in a tame garden

19/07/09

Did I blink fall asleep

Seems it was all a dream

Like Christmas unwrapped

And then new years has gone

Did I miss anything?  Was I

Oblivious to any moment

It has gone by me like a speeding train

Like a flash of lightning.

In A Leap

In a leap of faith here to here

Now, how do I find my way back?

To how thing were, Norm…….

Hurting for you without knowing

Hurting for you and now I know

Tearing at my insides a new pain

The soft warmth of your skin

The vulnerability of you beneath me.

Moments.

The moment shadow lingers

The look in your eyes

The feel of your skin against me

IT BURNS ME INTO TOMORROW

And that small part of you

Has brought me to a place

Where time stands still

Space fills with color

And your touch sets me ablaze.

THE CHERUBS

I never knew the sun

From amongst the mountains

Had such majesty

I’ve never seen this blue

Heaven reflected in your eyes

I could never have imagined

Such comfort but in your arms

I did not speak your name

Enough for the time we had

And when the door closed

I had to stop myself

From running after you.

II

If I were to run away

Would you let me take you?

Across the ocean to paradise shores

Maybe just a river walk

Sunset to sunrise

With champagne and strawberries

Leave a glass and a fruit

For those that came before us

And those that will follow

And I’ll look in your eyes

Watching shooting stars and kiss that universe.

Letter to Nina

Now I’m waiting for august firefly

Under a heavy July

Humidified atmosphere

Pressing the breath out of me

Like the weight of you

Looking down with that smile

August firefly and autumn flame

It is that feeling again

Past meeting present

Together forging tomorrow

It kills me not to share the secret I keep

Of one cared for in such a short time.

In this universe of mine

Sister gone to the winds of time

And the coffin’s mired temple doom

My heart always looks to you

Sitting by the pyre of time flying through

And it traverses me to the quick

Marrow clod and my bones shutter

And I let you by my side in the constant

The thought of your name my love

Whispers a wondrous breeze

Of mountain air through me

And then vanishes in the evening hush

August firefly flickers

Through July heat wave

Landing on autumn’s feet

Turning the moment

Into a thousand Monarch a flutter

Through it I see your face

Warm and smiling

Lips soft touch

And the omnipotent expression of joy

I accept you in the winter of my life.

NEED

You cannot give what I need

Understand the undercurrents race me

You give me what I want

Understand the limits this have offers

Angels in heave

Soar over the unspoken Eden

The fires still burn

The heat singes winged breasts

Hades weeps at what he once had

Wanted took and lost.

THE FRAYED

This current flow has me

In its undertow of sorrow

I battle and claw against the void

Looking up to see your face

Harder still I struggle to surface

Fighting the impulse to breathe

The clarity of your eyes fade.

A breath and darkness you’re gone.

Covered by this heavenly darkness

From within I can only reach

This last effort in hope and prayers

To remove the veil of her from me

A brisk swift flailing motion

The veil torn, removed, I come out gasping

Your name spoken from the depths’ we’ve all been

A strained heart beat and tears streaming.

A few breaths and you’re real

A sigh, a hard look at you, a smile

My hand on your cheek, holding

A kiss from your lips

Deep into my soul your kiss reaches

Into the eyes, orbs of faith and prayer

I see my angel hover over me

In the pews of this mass I am attentive.

I shall not wander but be at arms’ length

I shall never refuse a kiss

Shall always be at the ready

For the touch you give heals every pain

My clear spirit of light and hope

In my autumn pew of fire

The boy’s youth between us in summer

And you, the sunlit days to come.

IN THE SEASON

In the season of fireflies, wild roses

And evening storms brewing on the horizon

The thunder’s anvil lined up

Like the mountain reflected into the lake

Scattering rose petals across your bed

Swirling mass spun to dance

About you, tiara of pink hues

Fireflies sparks the diamond inset

III

I was being on the ledge of rain

A storm that washed the hunger right,

This hunger in my heart fills with lightning

For to toll, paid the ferry men twice

Upon new shore’s summer youth

Disembark first the bay to explore and we last to set eyes

Upon new world and adventure

We trudge on carelessly…….

REMEMBER

You said if I could play guitar

Like I kiss

I could be a rock star.

CHERUBS DISTURBED

I can feel the hollow

Call from deep within

Shallow waters in that empty

Feeling cavern’s an echo

Sobbing into hands of what?

Seems like forever and a day.

The aching cold cutting and deep

With nothing left to bleed.

Rest seems oblivious to you

As you continue on your way

Everything else is going else where

I’ve already been there;

And you, lasting in all things, remain

Above reproach.

All those steps ahead were travelled

In the tail wind of yesterday

Time to step aside, get in tomorrow,

Here warm yourself toward the future

In the darkest moment, that glimmer,

May not be the end of the tunnel,

It was the night sky all along

The clouds have passed the moon rises

And infinity appears.

The whole of you, as part of the deepest,

Intertwined feeling of creation’s fire

You are a sparkle

In the overcast heaven of my night sky.

JULY 28, 2009 (20:25)

The dragon peers down from his cloud

He turns his head to the west

And curls into his sleeping rain

The cloud dissipates into the overcast sky

I think of you…………..

Hell fire has you pinned down

Your corner of the world is in flames

Reaches through lightning storms

To find us warm in this cloud of rain

I’ve seen the red smoky sun

Drift slowly downward

Behind these trees through the shadows

Shimmering its own fire on my wall

As darkness fell

So the cold night air followed

And found loneliness in my chair

Pale, cold, unwanted, pouts

Like the summer bloom

Her needs weight on my heart

I unsuccessfully chase her away

She’s never too far

Pulling upon the strings of my past.

I’m unto a second night

Cold damp air

The red smoked sunset

Long gone paraded by moon and stars

And your smile felt in my hearty

Warms the coast of winter

Hell fire has grown still now.

Your brow moistens from the heat.

Run with me quick!

Feel your heart race and heave

Every breath drawn in

With the scent of ocean swells

And fresh mountain air

Hold my hand and run faster

Fly off the steep cliff

Plunge with me towards

The ocean’s embrace

Transforms us into whales

Dancing under the swells

Into the depths of the night

Within the house of sun shine

Into the room of days

Where light streams through

Our corridor of quiet constant motion.

And for a breath I’ll bellow

A howl through the fluid universe

You’ll answer “I love you.”

And again to surface

And we are once again a foot on the beach.

SERAPHIM OF SHADOWS

There’s a fire that burns

Deep inside for you, thus yearns

The depth of which only oceans

And forest dark sway in motion

Under the cover of misty night

Lit by stars, fireflies and the sprites

I lay with you under the tides

Leaving stallions to beckon and ride

On the horizon golden sun burnt red

Carves a day above you from a thread

As the day climbs the passion mounts

                         This moment’s churned

Like hot coals in my belly I quiver and burn

Deeper inside I melt and froth implodes and disappear

Into a forest there explodes a thought gently pulled to tears.

POWERS

I

There, September morning mist

Rolling from the forest dew

Unto the open field drifts slow

It flows gently rolling towards me

I am conscious

I am everything in motion

II

Evening in his chair

Listens to the traffic choir

Lulls the concrete bedlam quiet

The choir of the machinery’s

Gentle roar drifts with the breeze

In the distance where the sun has fallen

I hear them whisper in her ear

Something in the darkness stirred them

And she laughs with her friends

Finds me watching and hides

Behind that shooting star

I follow in the dark

Into twilight where aurora

Sews the seams of night

With her brilliance and hues.

III

There are places where I ‘have been and she has followed

But we speak not of them

For in those times

We’d disturb those

Whose flame and thunder had been kept hidden.

The ruckus has kept the gods

Awake to long and men came to be.

These are, still, evenings

When the sounds of the past can be heard

The sound of mountains falling

And of suns rising out of the ground and oceans

And the quiet after math

Before the dust settles,

You can see us,

Close, like waters to the shore,

Stars to the night.

Rain to the trees, the sun to the break of day.

Dawn erupt because we are,

She no longer fallows

But I pursue her eternally,

Always and the thundering

That beckons for the past.

Whereby we made the universe scream;

I only shudder,

When I think of kissing you.

PRINCIPALITIES

Did you hear September weep?

She was raining tears in a river

And all I could do was watch

As the weeks consoled her to no end

But with a cold and windy day

The sadness gave way to sorrow

And flushed her summer hues away

To red and orange fire

With petty yellow beaches

In the juniper brush

I am the willful hand of October

You’ve robbed my coffers for your own

Made my September cry

Feast over my cold ground

Bore in the cornucopia of my plenty

You’ve indulged yourselves

Now I call upon you to return my stores

And restore our youth and I will rejuvenate you.

I HEAR YOUR BREATH

Upon your shores I hear your breath

Like a distant ocean swell

Rolling in the constant from the horizon

And upon the sandy sounds.

I see myself running to you

Tumbling rolling in slow motion

As if trapped in an ocean curl

I land on my feet to look in your eyes

I am engulfed by the sight of you.

I am be your side under your skin

So close you touch my own

And the scent of wild flowers

Late summer fruit and ocean spray.

There, after sunset I saw starlight fade

The moonlight speared through the heavens

And the mountains shadowed your horizon

Against the heavy hand of sleep

Only the thought of you brightened my way.

The driving rain pummeling nature

The cold night air flowing passed

Frosting the heat of the day long asleep

Clouds of mist and fog weights the hand of sleep

And the thought of you clears the way.

The deer and the wolf flashed and fade into the night

Like a moment captured and released to flight

To the next second sped through the rain

And distant night weighing further the hand of sleep

I think of you, smile and find myself home.

DEMON

I saw you

Walked to you

Wanted you

Your smile and bright eyes

Gave pause to shutter

Want

Control, brought strength to lust

And the first touch of flesh

Fired passion deep with love

My kisses are for your passion…..

From each other’s soul

Is recreated the flow of spirit

From deep within our flesh

Satisfying a hunger left

Standing to long unfulfilled

Is now growing.

Like the crocus through the spring snow

We blossom from the cold

Bosom of neglect together dancing and warming

The cold spring earth into sensual life

Giving kisses rain and light

We found freedom.

DEMON OF THE FIRE

Fired to ashes

She waivers as she speaks

Her words breathe upon me

And ashes peel away

And swirl into the air,

Until nothing is left.

Let not the rain fall

From the sorrow of neglected years

To disturb and sink

The ashes into the earth

As yesterday

Storms into the present

With fits of tantrums

And bouts of rants and raves.

Fired to ashes peeled from the soul

Drifting on the breath of tomorrow

Withers into swirls of dust

Rising into the air and vanish.

Such is the moment

When goodbyes were said

Into the blue of heaven’s eye,

I fall from the darkness

And sail the scream of anguish

Into the abyss of self.

Fired to ashes, in this remains,

Drifts clustered waves of cinders

Swirling at my feet, weaving,

The blue, I see, before the horizon

As I raise my eyes to the burning sun

Ashes and cinders crumble quickly

Searing the pink air blistered

Of flesh and pain…

I am fired to ashes

Raising my dust to heaven’s remains.

NOVEMBER ARCHANGEL

In the dark horizon

City lights glitter

And reflect neon

From winter’s covering

Snow and ice are evidence

Summer’s grown cold.

The thought of yesterday

Finds me missing you

And nudges me to look up.

I see you curled up

Feline under warm blanket’s paradise

Frosty haze lets me see

Your sleep driven smile

And the memory of your womanly scent

Fills my soul with a breath of hope

Tender nudges into dream

I look closely at you sleep

Watch you bosom gently heave

With the breath of nocturnal scenes.

I carefully climb in with you

Disturbing no dream

Nor breath

Nor warmth

From slumber’s depth

I hold you in your sleep life

Safe in my arms.

Outside the window

Winter blows and swirls

A howl with snow

Behind drawn curtains.

The winter wind cuts a song

Through the trees and eaves

Of the woods and house.

Snow dust pits the glass

And I feel you press

Yourself against me.

Turn my thoughts from the winter storm

To loving warmth by my side

I lay my head

Just behind your ear

To whisper, I love you

Into your dreams.

We walk through summer

Pass by the river

Stroll through autumn fire

Hand in hand

And warmly caress your shoulder

In the present.

The affection radiates

To all of heaven

The universe

Turning the days into night.

The salty sweet froth

Of time’s passing

And the bitter waters of your love

Rains upon my joy.

I wake alone thinking of you

Wanting, needing you

With wind driven rain

Beating against my soul

I close my eyes and drift once more

To be near you.

The vision of your youthful glow

And beauty my heart

Years such an ache;

My days stand still.

It is in these moments

That my being reaches

Beyond the boundaries

Of everyday and soars

Through the quiet towards you.

NOVEMBER ANGEL

Still mountains rumble and quake

Quiet forest howls the breeze I face

And a long road whispers your name

Under a starlit night,

Till my dreams reach you.

I stop and beg the moment be still.

I thought I heard your voice in the morning chill,

Lay quiet my love

I’ll watch over you

Like the morning dove

Love you with my lips,

My mouth,

My tongue,

My hands caress,

My heart loves

Prayers pleasure most sacred

Communion sensual bitter waters

Pour over flesh and time

Deconstruct and pour into the ocean a mist and glow.

I can make rose petals blush

Tulips sweat and glisten

But the glitter in the smile of those blue eyes

Crush the breath from me.

The grace of things that were,

Have faded into a box of memories,

Paled with the breath of time.

Oblivion sank in and everything became naught,

Those things once in our grasp now clutch thin air

Breathless we grasp at our loss

And angels are abandoned at this fair.

HEAVEN AND HELL CLOSED AND ABANDONNED

Heaven and Hell are closed and abandoned

The remnants evicted for self-indulgence

And petty theft of life and love,

Man has returned to paradise

From the torments of half-hearted demy gods.

Crocus is Adam’s brother

Echo is Eve’s sister

Who walked the earth?

With a bride of eternal beauty

Their souls close to all of creation

In synch with all life

Tumbled gracefully forward.

The serpents and the angels

Seeing the gift of their union

Could never stand.

The tremors brought out the venomous snake

That tempted Eve which temptation banished

Redemption resolved to save

And hail majesty to heaven’s forgiveness.

Keeping Adam forsaken through time and death

In a blighted desert out of paradise

Crocus becomes lord reaping vengeance

Upon those who took Echo from his eternal side.

He tears open the earth and freezes the winds of time

Crocus stood breathing pain

Choking on hurt and bleeding tears

Flowing from the core of humanity.

What he swallowed was an ache

That would haunt us eternally.

Through time they are lovers

Meeting and facing days forward.

Into the depth once reaching each other.

Remember their place stolen from them again and again,

Travel; the pain of time repeated by this dastardly crime

To suffer till their strength be restored at creation’s start.

He’ll taste her scent in the air and smile of mem’ry.

She herself smiled a wicked grin as he neared

And her strength and sensual air

Made his blood course with want

The closer they came within the vicinity and proximate

Of the humanities they once were incarnate souls.

They would have their hearts filled with love once more,

Passion and simple want of each other’s eternal togetherness.

Once ripped by death the incumbent fury of their end.

Alas again the fury await their return

And is ripped and torn by curs and drag of angels’ cloth

His step close witness to the horrid murder

The curs found out in the deed bloody to plunder

Crocus’ short work the dogs into a pulp of yelps and cries

Unheard screeches into the halls of tomorrow.

The suffering torment and bloodletting of these events

Haunts the shadows of all lovers until now…..

Time has fed change to these events

And as the lovers approach, Archangels and Demons

Prepare to make the theft of nature’s beating heart

With these dull spears and swords of torturous envy

As the archangel prepares to take her heart

The demons sit her to assassination’s seat

Against her struggling will, she hollers and fights

And pierces the empty hall with screams.

A child startled the henchmen in the brevity of the moment.

The deed is done and the child slain as well

And Crocus arrives to Echo’s slain remains

A child be her side destroyed of life.
